San Diego Summer Course
English classes and activites take place on campus of the University of San Diego. The campus is located approximately two miles north of downtown San Diego, on the north crest of Mission Valley in the community of Linda Vista. From the westernmost edges of Alcalá Park the communities of Mission Hills, Old Town, Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Bay Park, Mission Beach and Pacific Beach can be seen. Also, the Pacific Ocean, San Diego Harbor, the Coronado Islands and La Jolla are visible from the campus.
San Diego is one of the safest in America and its year-round warm climate allows for all kinds of fun activities. San Diego’s temperate Mediterranean climate is mild and sunny throughout the year with monthly temperatures ranging from 14 C in January to 22 C in July. With approximately 1.2 million people, San Diego is the 7th largest city in the United States. San Diego continues to grow but hasn’t lost its small town feel that retains a strong connection with its Hispanic heritage.

The following levels of supervision are provided.
At the Residence
Staff are always on duty in the evening and in the residence at night. In addition there is 24 hour security. During the evening and night time students are strictly prohibited from leaving the residence unsupervised.
Staff to student ratios are strictly enforced and students are double checked on and off buses. During excursions, free time is often given for the students to explore a designated area, e.g. a shopping area. Students can do this in small groups unsupervised but they are told the time and place to meet and also where staff will be during their free time.
Any absence from class is immediately reported to the Camp Manager or Director of Studies and investigated.
OTHER NECESSARY INFORMATION
All meals are provided in large, comfortable cafeterias on campus, except on excursions when a packed-lunch is given to all students. Wholesome and varied food is served and special dietary requirements can be catered for. Please advise us at the time of enrolment if a student has any special dietary requirements.
Laundry facilities are available at the residence halls where students are accommodated. Bed linen and towels are changed once a week, but no other laundry is included in the course fees. If students wish to wash clothes during their stay, they will be responsible for doing so.
A 24-hour emergency telephone number will be given in writing to students. All students will be issued with an identity card, which explains what action is to be followed in the event of an emergency or other difficulty. Students will be told to carry this card at all times.
All students must provide an emergency contact number to the staff on their first day. This should normally be the number of a parent/ guardian.
